In the last couple of weeks, I posted Part 1 and Part 2 of a mini-series about how I’m making my own version of the Mantus-Rocna wedge style of anchor. In that first part I explained what I’m doing and why. I also obtained the steel I needed for the project and removed the mill scale. The second part involved laying out cut lines, cutting out the parts making up the anchor, and grinding/preparing them for welding. This week, you’ll see me position parts in place, tack weld, and begin the “root welds” and finish welds of all the parts that make up my version of a wedge style anchor. I wanted to conclude this project within this third segment, however inclement weather wouldn’t allow me the opportunity to do so. Looks like the there will be a Part 4 and possibly a further segment, depending on the weather. I’m typing this on Wednesday, April 1st and it snowed today.
