Multiple black bears investigates an artificial bear den constructed out of a culvert (watch the time on Aug. 14th when 2 different bears investigate). Artificial den structures have been installed to determine whether they can provide hibernation sites for bears in areas where den supplies may be low due to forest harvesting and hydro reservoirs. Funded by BC Hydro's Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program (Coastal) with support from BC Timber Sales, TimberWest Forest Corp, Queesto Community Forest, and the Pacheedaht First Nation.
