Digital Humanism
This channel features (invited) talks from events within the Digital Humanism initiative, organized by the Faculty of Informatics and the Research Unit of E-Commerce, TU Wien. Digital Humanism describes, analyzes, and, most importantly, influences the complex interplay of technology and humankind, for a better society and life, fully respecting universal human rights. (Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism, May 2019) While digitalization opens unprecedented opportunities, it also raises serious concerns: the monopolization of the Web, the rise of extremist opinions orchestrated by social media, the formation of filter bubbles and echo chambers as islands of disjoint truths, the loss of privacy, ethical issues w.r.t. AI, and the spread of digital surveillance. The talks deal with these issues, and look at possible answers and/or solutions. Sign and Support the Manifesto on Digital Humanism
